riding is fun

"Cycling is sport and transportation and transformation. And cycling is vantage. A position and condition that when combined, offer a Point of View. The position, seated on a bike, slightly bent and pointed forward, is engaged. Moving through time and space at an average speed of 18 miles an hour, engaging the world at just the right speed, the rider experiences great vision, hearing and feeling. Part “zone”, part metaphysical and part synchronicity, the cyclist experiences a powerful Point of View. In the same family as suffering and freedom, this Point of View is one of the fundamental reasons we ride. Riding is fun."

This explains my growing obsession for the last three or four years.

I insist that you read the rest of this here.

Yesterday, I read my blog I posted after my accident. It made me sad and also thankful for being okay. I read stories like Get Better Gabe, where the condition that Gabe was put in after his bicycle accident is just devastating. I can't even watch the videos of him. I'm just happy I can still function normally.

I also realized, that just a week before my accident I posted this bicycle awareness video..

This event in my life, being easily one of the most difficult, acts as a reminder to me to live life to its fullest. It can be way too short. I'm not so sure I've been doing that the way I would like to lately, but I've got some goals set and I hope to achieve them shortly.

p.s. I got a helmet.

lightning bolts in my chest

Akron/Family is coming to town next month and I am more than excited. This is one of my favorite bands and I have yet to see them live. Their self-titled album changed the way I listen to music.
I am now obtaining their newest album Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free and will hopefully be able to give it a proper listen tonight. It's been out for quite a while, but I've been out of the music loop for quite a while too.
I'm no music journalist, so I won't even try to "review" the band or the album.

I haven't had a chance to get any film to Dury's lately, but i plan on getting a few rolls done with my next payday to get caught up. That's all. Hope the holidays went peacefully for everyone.
