mount vernon

we were super slow at work about a month ago and for a day or so i was moved in to a different department since i had completely run out of work for the day.
now you need to understand that i technically work at a factory. factories tend to attract some very interesting employees. i like to think that my department is one of the least "white trash" departments.
so when i get moved, i get a little nervous because these kind of people don't seem to take well to "my kind". although i've grown up with this problem all of my life growing up in the town of white bluff, i still can't help but get nervous.
so the job i was assigned to was "stuffing records". i was to put all of the new guns n roses records into the jackets so they could be sealed and shipped. there were several other people doing this but there were two that were standing directly across the table from me.
the first was a large guy whose name i believe is vernon. at least that's what his shirt said. he had a lit cigarette stuck to his lip the entire four hours or so that i saw him. i actually never saw him inhale anything, just occasionally ash it. he had a borderline mullet. i don't know if i could actually call it a mullet. he also had a truckers hat on that he seems to be wearing everytime i see him.
the second guy was at least half my size. he also had a borderline mullet and would occasionally smoke a cigarette. i think he was actually smoking his cigarettes though. i don't know his name but im sure it was a good one. he didn't have it displayed on his shirt like vernon.
these two guys, who have yet to say a word to me, started talking about the tattoos they had. what prison they had gotten them in. if they were thirteen when they got it or forty. how bad it hurt. and which names they needed to cover up.
vernon was talking about his cousin who had just gotten a tattoo in prison by some self-taught tattoo artist who vernon apparently thought was amazing. he said that as soon as this guy got out of prison in a year, he was going to get a new huge tattoo from him.
he then described the tattoo he wanted..
huge across his shoulders on his back. a picture of mount rushmore.. but he did not want the president's faces on mount rushmore. instead he was going to have each of his four children's faces on mount rushmore.

that story took longer than expected. sorry.

so i just noticed that halcyon myspace posted a bunch of pictures from the crankmas after party..

the seabees sang to me, bryan not saying goodbye, hugging mr fox, happy valley, being intoxicated, forgetting keys, being told i look like i'm in love, standing in the dance area, horses and stuff,
saturday
waking up later than intending, last minute bike building, got sixth out of 44 in the crankmas bike race(according to chris callis), halcyon after party with booze music vegan barbq and good friends, back and forth from davids to halcyon, bourbon, bicycle tricks galore
sunday
bicycles all day long, drdr flying over my handlebars while trying to ride my bicycle, frothy monkey with ben folds, and more bicycles


wouldn't you say that was a success?

i just bought two tickets to the Cool Kids/Matt & Kim show. it's guaranteed to be the most fun show of the year. and it's only five bucks. that never happens anymore.

anyway.. i've been wanting to see this short film for a while now and they recently put it all on youtube. it's pretty fantastic. if you have twenty five minutes to spare you should watch it.

i've got lots of songs i've been pushing around on pen and paper and melodies that i can never seem to keep still. i've always used others as a crutch musically. this time im going solo. the plan is demo ing right now. justin fox is going to produce this little project of mine.

it's my birthday soon. the seventh to be exact. thought about having a big party and all that or going out and dancing the night away. but i just want good friends and good beer. so tuesday i will be heading to the flying saucer around four thirty and you should join me. i'll be there quite late i'm sure.
i'm not very happy about this growing old thing. so let's make it a good one.
there's also a party for all the october babys at the linden house. it's a cult party. my name's on the list. ill post a flyer later when i feel like all that copying and pasting stuff. its on the 18th i think. somewhere around there.

my goal is to finish an album before the year is up. i just don't want to be one of those bands that everyone hates but still supports because of friendship. if you don't like it, just tell me.

basically, i have a roommate that is eighty nine years old. the other day he asked me what i thought of this whole election thing. seeing as how i don't really care to talk to anyone about politics because it normally turns into a terrible direction-less conversation, i told him i'm not really sure, it seems it might be a close one. he preceded to tell me this.. "well i sure as hell hope that black guy doesn't win. i don't think he will though, because think of how many white people there are in this country. i don't think people are that stupid to vote for a black man as the president of the united states, the greatest country in the whole world. and it's not that he's just black, he's an asshole too."
i didn't know how to respond to this, so i chuckled it off and quickly finished getting my ice cream and spoon and went to watch some reality television.

i also got hit by a car again. it wasn't a big deal though. here's the story.

i was riding down harding toward belle meade. that's a four lane road. a car passed me as i was riding in the shoulder. immediately after i felt a swift knock in the arm and saw a side mirror go flying through the air. the car that gave me a bit of a jolt hesitated to stop but finally did.. in the middle of the road. as he rolled down his window he said "are you alright?" i quickly realized the man was very old, but preceded to say "yeah, i'm alright! are you fucking blind?! what the fuck are you doing?! you just hit a fucking pedestrian!! you better be glad i'm not calling the fucking cops!!"
no exaggeration. i kept peddling and the old man went on his was with no side mirror. i would have called the cops but i was way too tired and ready to be home.
you should have to take your driver's license test every 5 years after you turn 60. seriously. fucking old people can't drive. my roommate shouldn't be driving at all.

tonight i will go to the basement to see all we seabees. i've seen them play probably a hundred times. but they're my friends and they play good music. it's the mkultra cd release show. kelli's coming in to town for the show, then we will shortly after make our way to, what some people call, the big apple. it's a fifteen hourish drive. but i like long drives with good friends. i'm basically rambling.

mega ultra sad

went to knoxville over the weekend with justin to visit sir bryan and the lady. they have a super nice place. we drank beers and mimosas and went to the sunsphere and talked about the good ole days and stuff.
it's a much nicer city than i remembered

rumor of a pbnc reunion. i think it will be a great thing. justin and i are going to start demo ing this week. that's the plan at least. we'll see how it goes.

going to new york from the 6th to the 13th. pretty excited about it. ill have lots of pictures and things after.

i wish the weather would clear so i could ride my bikecycle.

went to see the fireworks tonight with the fam.

it's my brother's birthday and i don't always get to see him on it, so we all got together and went to the melting pot. in case you haven't been there, it's good fondue. and in case you haven't been there, it backs up to first avenue with some windows. we reserved a table at the window. got to sit inside and watch the fireworks with a perfect view. then i felt weird watching fireworks inside, with perfect chocolate at my fingertips. so i went outside and watched.
my favorite part is always the sound.
and the smoke.

if you've never been to the nashville fireworks, you should do it next year.
i'm never disappointed.

i watched the man standing next to me propose to his girlfriend.
i think she said yes. she was crying.

i will never propose in a huge crowd.

after tuesday i decided to calm it down a bit.
i've said it several times lately, but i think that night did it for me.
after the fourth of july festivities with family, i will be starting a juice detox.
pure, organic juice made fresh by me. that's all. and water. how long does this last? my goal is one month. i think i can make it.
a juice detox is supposed to cleanse your body and give your digestive system a rest from breaking down all that shit you eat every day. it's supposed to do wonders for whatever you need. weight, mood, metabolism, clarity.
this will give me something to focus on and hopefully i will regain my self-control which i have lost for the past month.

check out hamburger eyes. it's an amazing magazine full of some of the most amazing photos you'll ever see. you can check out the back issues and see some of the pictures in each issue.
i unfortunately have yet to purchase one of these but soon will.
